Reaction Drills

These are exercises designed to improve your reaction skills.

Find some warm up drills to be performed to improve reaction time
  • Fielding
  • Catching
  • Batting

  • The player is asked to sit on a bouncing ball
  • The players partner is provided with some soft balls
  • The partner has to thrown these balls under arm aiming to hit the head of the other person sitting on the bouncing ball
  • The player has to avoid the ball hitting his head while maintaining the balance
  • The other player has to time his throw to hit the head of the other player

  • The player is asked to stand facing a wall and has to throw the balls at different speed and height to catch it, this will improve the player reaction time to catch the ball
  • The other way of doing is to make your partner throw the ball onto the wall and you catching it, which makes it a bit difficult as you are not aware of the speed
  • If you want to take it to the next level, turn your back on to the wall and ask your partner to throw the ball onto the wall. This requires speed and quick reaction as you have to hear the ball hitting the wall and turn to catch the ball

  • To improve a batsman reaction time to bouncers, you can ask your partner to throw some soft ball at you and asking to hit your head
  • You as a player has to evade yourself from these ball
